100% Home Compostable Mailing Bags

The home compostable poly mailer from Green Bell Packaging is made of renewable bioplastic film. The mailers decompose into healthy compost without microplastics and meet all major compost standards, such as OK Compost Home and AS5810. They are both waterproof and sturdy, and they come with double adhesive strips for re-use and returns.

FAQs

The amount of time it takes for a product to biodegrade is determined by the composting environment. Industrial or commercial composting plants operate at higher temperatures, and materials must biodegrade within six months to meet certification requirements. Composting at home is more unpredictable, as it is affected by environmental elements like as temperature, humidity, and how often it is rotated. Materials can biodegrade in 12 months at a temperature of roughly 30°C to qualify for home compost certification. Check out our certificates page for additional details.

Compostable materials, unlike most plastics, are intended to endure a long time. They won't start decomposing on the shelf or in your warehouse on their own, but compostable polymers degrade with time, causing factors like sealing and lamination strength to diminish. We offer our compostable materials an 18-month shelf life in general before this happens. However, climatic variables like as heat and humidity have an impact on this; in hot and humid locations, the shelf life is lowered. To maintain a long shelf life, we recommend keeping all compostable items in dry, climate-controlled settings.

Green Bell Packaging's biodegradable films and laminates, as well as any valves or zippers, are all certified compostable. Please see our Certifications page for further information.

They don't. Our materials are compostable, which means they've been subjected to extensive biodegradation testing to ensure that they breakdown fully into healthy organic matter.

Our compostable products are produced from bioplastic, which is technically a form of plastic, and do not include plastic as most people know it. Green Bell Packaging offers a variety of bioplastics created with biodegradable Plantcell™ technology or recyclable Sugarflex™ films and laminates. For additional information, read our Science page, which delves further into these subjects.

Unfortunately, because compostable materials are supposed to be composted, they cannot be mechanically recycled. Commercial composting systems are currently not generally accessible on a kerbside basis, although this is fast changing, as is the pace of home composting.

Composting is a critical component of a healthy circular economy. In our How to Compost blog post, we've covered all the fundamentals.

If you need a waterproof mailer, either our biodegradable or recyclable plastic mailers are the best option. Our paper mailers are water-resistant and can survive rain during transit, but they aren't meant to be kept outside in the rain.

Our mailer bags are 100% waterproof and can bear a lot of weight. They're also tear-resistant, and they're made to evenly distribute weight throughout the bag. Order a sample pack and put it to the test.

Our compostable and PCR recycled mailers come in 60µ or 2.36 mil thick. Our stock paper mailers are 180GSM. We've examined a lot of mailers and found these to be the best thicknesses for a great blend of affordability, durability, and long-term sustainability. You may determine the thickness of the material if you're customising your packing.

It's entirely up to you! There are solid block colours as well as opaque (see-through) colours available. You can't see the product being packaged within the standard envelopes that we offer online.
